Kent's Learning Journey

About Me

Welcome, my name is Kent DePasquale, and you've likely stumbled along here through meeting me, or one of my other social media avenues. I treat this website as a place where I can showcase what I am doing.

Currently, I just completed an internship with EY in their Digital Asset Research Center (DARC). Here I helped audit crypto projects requested by clients for security.

Currently I am specializing in the DeFi space.

Outside of work, I'm consuming blockchain related content, attending conferences, and trying to position myself for the future.

In terms of skills, I have experience with solidity, portfolio management, and digital asset research. I learn best by doing, so you can find me often working with my ethereum node, building trading strategies, and investigating other protocols.

Achievements

  • At EY, I was able to hop right into a few projects and help present my findings to their partner level professional practice group. While I was there I was able to set up my own ethereum node, and investigate other protocols for possible security and governance issues.

  • At the hedge fund I have been able to tackle the institutional crypto custody issue, and employ a variety of different strategies to generate alpha. These include yield farming, staking, participating in token presales on behalf of the fund, changing delta and volatility exposure, and selecting assets to hodl.

Strengths

  • I have found that books catalyze wisdom and help develop desirable traits. One of my favorite books is Principles by Ray Dalio, and my main takeaway from that book is practicing radical transparency with myself and others. I think by being honest with myself, and my goals, I am able to consciously work on being better. No matter what it is I'll try to tackle challenges without hesitating by being resourceful. I think this is because I'm hungry, both literally and figuratively.

Goals

  • In the bigger picture, I'm working towards a few things. In college I studied bioengineering and computer science, but quickly moved towards developing myself outside of the curriculum specifically in the blockchain space.

  • To me it is incredibly intriguing with new projects popping up everyday. In college I also tried starting up two startups, and failed twice. First time wrong team right idea, second time right team wrong idea. Point is, I have goals big enough to scare me, and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, wear many hats, and dive deep into something if it means getting to where I want to be.

  • In terms of jobs, I've been a stock trader, and crypto trader for years, but more recently gotten into the nitty gritty aspects of blockchain. Enter DeFi, the perfect cross section of my passions, and preferences: a fast moving space full of trading, disruption, and deep technological knowledge. I truly believe that DeFi at the very least will coexist with CeFi. My goal is to work for companies that focus on DeFi, CeFi, trading, and anything to do with digital assets. I plan to leapfrog with whatever opportunities come to me.

What I've got on my plate right now:

Currently, a majority of my time is dedicated to the crypto fund. From digesting news, moving money around in DeFi, developing strategies, it is a full time job. On top of that I work on developing dapps, auditing protocols, researching, and forecasting. Taking advantage of DeFi is extremely lucrative, and as a small agile fund, I can equip the fund appropriately.

I'm excited to see how blockchain technology in general will shape our lives in the future, from personal finance, interacting with vendors, the metaverse. I think that regulation is needed in this sector to strengthen the overall outlook, and while the crazy gains might disappear, I am a big advocate of building a model of the world, making predictions, riding the wave, and being an early adopter. If you're reading this now, we likely have similar interests, passions, and jobs, we are definitely earlier adopters.

I am looking for opportunities within this space, and I hope to continue conversation with you in some capacity.
